Fortnite World Cup Coming 2019

As the final weekend of the FIFA World Cup wraps up, you might not have to wait long for another major international world cup. Epic Games announced it will host the first-ever Fortnite World Cup in late 2019. Even though Ninja isn’t as well known as Messi around the world, this world cup would help Fortnite reach way more audiences across the world as people came to together to cheer for their favourite squad or duo.

We heard about the World Cup at E3 this year but no other details were given. Now we have a date and a few more points about how it will work. This announcement comes as part of their promise to provide $100,000,000 to fund prize pools for a variety of Fortnite tournaments during the 2018/19 season. In less than a year, Fortnite has grown to 125 million players so it’s no surprise that they will be hosting one of the biggest esports events ever and using a huge sum to keep things interesting.

Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers begin in Fall 2018. The qualifying tournaments will focus on will focus on Solos and Duos, but there’ll be plenty of opportunities to squad-up in competition, too. Everyone can compete and enter. Epic announced that Qualifications for the Fortnite World Cup will be based on merit. Epic will not be selling teams or franchises, and won’t allow third-party leagues to do so either.
