On Friday, it was announced that Hip Hop artist and songwriter Tory Lanez will be joining the squad for this Friday’s tournament (May 25th).
The viewers are split between various Twitch and YouTube channels including UMG’s Twitch stream which includes commentary of the event on some of the best matches. The goal for KEEMSTAR is to recruit top tier casting talent to commentate the tournament.
Demand for Fortnite tournaments have exponentially increased after Epic Games announced it is giving $100 million to Fortnite to help push the game high in the esports industry. This huge sum demonstrates the company’s plan for long-term support of the ever popular game.
An Epic blog from the Fortnite team says, “Since the launch of Fortnite: Battle Royale we’ve watched the passion for community competition grow and can’t wait to empower you to battle with the best.” They want to get behind competitive play but at the same time appeal to a broader audience, “be more inclusive and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.”
Make sure you tune in this Friday to the next Friday Fortnite tournament. Participants will be competing for $20,000, the largest prize pool yet. Subscribe to UMG on Twitch HERE.
