Who wouldn’t want a pair of PlayStation-themed shoes? The world of sneakerheads and gamers collide with these new sneakers.
Sony recently teamed up with NBA All-Star Paul George and Nike to design the limited edition PG2 sneakers. The Oklahoma City Thunder forward is an avid gamer with a love for PlayStation consoles. He wanted a sneaker which would represent his love for Sony’s console when he’s out on the court.
The shoes feature light-up tongues bearing the PlayStation and PG logos. Buttons inside the tongues let you turn the lights on or off. There’s also a pulse mode where the lights flicker and vibrate, supposedly like a PlayStation Dual Shock controller.
Nike worked directly with the PlayStation team, which also provided the galaxy graphic seen on the sock liner in the shoe. That print is available for download as a theme for PS4 consoles using a PSN voucher code that’s embedded on the back of the left shoe. The eyelets mimic the PlayStation controller button colors of green, blue, pink, and purple; and the blue rubber soles glow in the dark. The only downfall of the shoe is the batteries aren’t replaceable and have a lifespan of around 150 hours.
The PG2 shoes are limited edition and will be available globally starting February 10th for $110.
