For those of you that have embarked on Kratos’ latest adventure, you’re not alone. PS4’s God of War has exploded in commercial success since it’s opening weekend April 20-22. Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment announced recently they sold more than 3.1 million units of the franchise revival worldwide within its first three days of the release, breaking the record for the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive yet.
The previous record holder was Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End which was released in My 2016.
This year’s God of War brings Kratos out of Ancient Greece to a new setting with its own mythology and introduces his young son, Atreus. It features a wide array of additions to the series, from a new combat system and weapon to an AI companion and a much different narrative focus.
Infinity War centers around the villain Thanos and his pursuit of the six Infinity Stones, which he plans to insert into the Infinity Gauntlet, granting him god-like powers. This is a pretty obvious reference to Marvel’s latest movie, Avengers:Infinity War.
If you haven’t got your hands on the fastest ever selling PS4 exclusive, what are you waiting for?
